NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Predators coach Barry Trotz says defenseman Hal Gill will not play Friday night in Game 5 of the NHL playoffs against Detroit.
Gill has yet to play in the first-round series after blocking a shot by Sheldon Souray in a win against Dallas on April 5, but he went through his first full practice Thursday.
He skated Friday morning and told reporters he expected to be a game-time decision without having talked with Trotz or the team's trainers.
Trotz followed up a few minutes later by saying he did not expect Gill to play in Friday night's game. Asked if that meant Gill was out for Game 5, Trotz said yes.
The Predators lead the series 3-1.
