Nicklas Grossmann exits Game 5
PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Flyers returned starting goaltender Steve Mason to the lineup Friday night but were forced to play without one of their veteran defensemen for the latter half of Game 4 against the New York Rangers when Nicklas Grossmann left during the second period.
Grossman took a nasty spill into the boards in the middle stanza, appearing to catch his right foot in the corner of the boards. The 29-year-old skated off the ice with help while favoring his right leg.
He did not return to the game. The Flyers won 2-1 to tie the first-round series at two games apiece.
If Grossman cannot play in Game 5 on Sunday, the Flyers have hulking blueliner Hal Gill available. Gill was a healthy scratch for the first four games of the series.
