Power Rankings: New look to this week's Top 10

With so many great matchups in the past week, we're itching for the NHL playoffs.

And one of the surprising stories of the season is the solid play from the New Jersey Devils. Not many could have predicted such a strong run without star netminder Martin Brodeur, who has been out of the lineup since early November (distal biceps tear in left elbow).

Scott Clemmensen, who has a 22-9-1 record this season, has helped the Devils post a 9-1-0 run in their past 10 games. It's a run that has included recent wins over Vancouver, Montreal, Pittsburgh and Boston, good enough to put them in our top spot for this week.

7	Chicago 27-13-8	3 Last Week: 10	Jonathan Toews talked about the Hawks making "a breakthrough" this season. Could their recent win over San Jose be it?
8	Philadelphia 26-14-9	-- Last Week: 8	The Flyers are switching between Martin Biron and backup Antero Niittymaki in net. Imagine, a little goalie instability in Philly.
9	Anaheim 25-22-5	5 Last Week: 14	With a few games under his belt since returning from injury, Teemu Selanne (and his 13 power-play goals) should see more time on the man advantage.
10	New York 29-18-4	1 Last Week: 9	The Rangers have allowed more goals than they've scored, plus their power-play percentage (14.8 percent) ranks last in the East. Right now, not the makings of a long playoff run.
11	Montreal 28-16-6	4 Last Week: 7	Just one win in their past six games, and now news that Robert Lang is out indefinitely after undergoing surgery for a severed Achilles tendon. Any remote chance of gaining on Boston in the Northeast just went out the window.
12	Buffalo 26-19-5	-- Last Week: 12	Ryan Miller started in 12 of 13 games in January, allowing two or fewer goals eight times in that span.
13	Phoenix 24-22-5	2 Last Week: 11	One week, the Coyotes are in; the next, they're out. Such is life in the Western Conference playoff race.
14	Pittsburgh 24-22-5	1 Last Week: 13	Ditto for the Penguins in the East.

19	Columbus 24-21-5	-- Last Week: 19	Wade Dubielewicz's return to the NHL? Not so pleasant.
20	Florida 23-18-8	2 Last Week: 22	Goalie Tomas Vokoun moved above .500 for the first time this season after back-to-back wins last week before dropping a weekend matchup against the Islanders.
21	Vancouver 22-20-8	4 Last Week: 17	This week's tally -- Vancouver has won just one game since Mats Sundin's arrival, and Roberto Luongo is winless in five starts since his return.
22	Los Angeles 20-21-7	1 Last Week: 23	The league's youngest team went 3-1-0 in the past week on the shoulders of 23-year-old netminder Jonathan Quick.
23	Tampa Bay 17-23-10	1 Last Week: 24	According to local reports, goalie Mike Smith did not travel with the Bolts for their upcoming game against the Isles because of an "undisclosed upper-body injury."
24	Nashville 22-24-3	1 Last Week: 25	Nashville gained ground in the playoff chase with wins over Vancouver and Edmonton. Phoenix is up next.
25	Toronto 19-23-8	3 Last Week: 28	The Maple Leafs posted back-to-back wins for the first time since Dec. 22. Must have been that Doug Gilmour celebration.
26	Colorado 23-26-1	5 Last Week: 21	While the Avs deal with not having Joe Sakic and Paul Stastny in the lineup, Adam Foote's return has been delayed because of a rehab setback. Meanwhile, Wojtek Wolski is in the midst of an eight-game goal-scoring drought.
