DETROIT (Ticker) -- The struggling New York Islanders hope to snap a season-high three-game losing streak on Friday night when they visit the Detroit Red Wings.

New York has scored just three goals in its last three contests and is 2-6-0 since beating Dallas on November 6.

The Islanders are coming off their third shutout loss of the season as they managed 28 shots on goal in Wednesday's 2-0 home loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

New York has scored just 17 goals in its last eight games and several key players are struggling. Alexei Yashin has no goals in his last nine games and Michael Peca has just three points in his last eight.

Mariusz Czerkawski leads the team with 11 goals and 17 points, but he has just two goals and three points in his last eight contests.

New York is 2-6-2 on the road, while Detroit is 7-3-0 at home.

On Wednesday, Kris Draper scored twice and Steve Yzerman and Brendan Shanahan each had a goal and an assist to lead Detroit to a 7-1 romp over the Edmonton Oilers.

Former Islanders defenseman Mathieu Schneider collected three assists as the Red Wings bounced back from Monday's 4-1 loss to Washington and improved to 6-2-1 in their last nine games.

Detroit was 1-0-1 vs. New York last season and is 6-0-1 vs. the Islanders since a 3-1 road loss on February 27, 1999.
