NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Coming off a victory against their biggest rival, the New York Rangers try to move two games over .500 for the third time this season on Sunday afternoon as they host the Tampa Bay Lightning.

After a pair of tough losses to the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Rangers avoided falling under .500 with a 4-2 road victory over the struggling New York Islanders on Thursday.

The Rangers built a 3-0 lead as defenseman Brian Leetch scored twice. Leetch scored his second goal of the game and Anson Carter tallied during a five-minute power play, which was awarded following Mike Peca's knee-to-knee hit on Jamie Lundmark.

New York had to hold on as the Islanders scored twice in 47 seconds, but Martin Rucinsky sealed the win with his eighth goal of the season.

Tampa Bay snapped a season-high six-game winless streak with Saturday's 3-1 win over Buffalo.

In just their ninth road game of the season, the Lightning scored three goals for the first time since November 20 as captain Dave Andreychuk netted the game-winner and Nikolai Khabibulin tied a season high with 37 saves.

Andreychuk has scored in the last two games following a 15-game drought.

The Rangers opened the season series with a 2-0 victory at Tampa Bay on November 25 when Jussi Markkanen made 36 saves and captain Mark Messier and rookie Jed Ortmeyer scored.

New York is 12-10-2 all time at home vs. the Lightning.
