UNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) -- After having their seven-game home winning streak halted, the New York Islanders welcome another Northwest Division team to Nassau Coliseum as they host the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night.

Mattias Weinhandl and Jason Blake scored in the second period for the Islanders in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Calgary Flames. Blake has four goals and seven assists in his last eight games.

Garth Snow gave up a pair of goals 1:53 apart in the second and fell to 12-10-2. Former Oilers defenseman Roman Hamrlik had three of New York's 33 shots on goal.

Islanders right wing Trent Hunter was named NHL Rookie of the Month for December on Tuesday. Hunter had six goals, including three game-winners, and three assists in December.

The Oilers opened their current six-game road trip with consecutive wins before Monday's 3-2 overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils. Former Islander Raffi Torres and Ethan Moreau tallied for Edmonton, which was 0-for-5 on the power play.

Moreau has scored in consecutive games following a 19-game drought.

Torres and Brad Isbister were acquired from the Islanders last March 11 for defenseman Janne Niinimaa and a draft pick.

The Islanders have won their last two home meetings with the Oilers.
