ST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Wild hope to avoid a fourth straight defeat when they host the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday at the Xcel Energy Center.

The Wild, who are playing their only home contest in an eight-game stretch, are coming off a 3-1 loss at Dallas on Friday, their third setback in a row.

Andrew Burnette staked Minnesota to a 1-0 lead early in the second period but the Wild gave up three straight goals and went 0-for-3 on the power play.

Minnesota is 0-for-17 with the man advantages over the last four contests, including 0-for-15 on its skid.

Carolina had won the first two contests of a four-game road trip before coming up short at Montreal in overtime on Saturday, 1-0.

Kevin Weekes made 31 saves, many of them spectacular, for the Hurricanes, but he gave up the winning goal to Mike Ribeiro with 82 seconds left in the extra session.

Carolina could not get any of its 18 shots past Jose Theodore.

This is the only matchup between the teams this campaign. The squads split their two meetings last season, with each winning at home.
