CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- The Calgary Flames can move closer
to securing a playoff berth when they host the desperate Los
Angeles Kings on Saturday at the Pengrowth Saddledome.
The Flames are in sixth place in the Western Conference
standings with 88 points, three behind fifth-place Vancouver.
The Kings are in 10th place, five behind eighth-place Nashville
with five games remaining.
Calgary has lost three of its last four games, including a 3-2
setback at San Jose on Thursday.
Martin Gelinas and Oleg Saprykin scored in the third period to
rally the Flames into a 2-2 tie, but San Jose's Vincent
Damphousse tallied with 23.2 seconds left for the game winner.
Los Angeles is coming off a 3-1 loss at Edmonton on Friday, its
sixth straight loss.
Ian Laperriere scored for the Kings, who have dropped seven of
their last eight contests.
The Kings are 1-0-1 against the Flames this season. The teams
skated to a 4-4 tie here on February 3.
