NY Islanders (1-2-0) at Washington (2-3-0), 7:00 pm EDT
WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The Washington Capitals will have to find
a way to bolster their power play defense when they host the New
York Islanders on Thursday.
The Capitals have given up a league-high 13 goals when they've
played shorthanded. It is the main factor behind the team being
outscored 22-6 in their three losses. Washington captured both
its wins so far this season by a 3-2 margin.
Carolina had not scored in its first 17 power-play chances
before scoring three straight times with the man-advantage en
route to a 7-2 trouncing over Washington on Wednesday.
Rookie Alexander Olvechkin scored his fourth goal of the young
season for the Capitals.
The Islanders were handed a 3-1 home loss by Florida on Monday.
Miroslav Satan scored his second goal of the season in the
first period, but New York was stonewalled the rest of the way
by former draftee Roberto Luongo.
New York and Washington split their six meetings in 2003-04.
