DENVER (Ticker) -- Marek Svatos has provided a breath of fresh air for the Colorado Avalanche.

The rookie sensation hopes to lead the Avalanche to their sixth straight triumph Wednesday when the Montreal Canadiens come to town for an interconference battle.

The 23-year-old Svatos has collected 25 goals and 14 assists in 43 games this season. He has five goals in his last three contests, including his second career hat trick in Monday's 6-1 victory over St. Louis.

The win was the fifth straight for Colorado, which also got a tally and two assists from Alex Tanguay and a goal and an assist from Andrew Brunette.

Defensemen Rob Blake and John-Michael Liles each set up a pair of tallies for the Avalanche, who last posted six straight wins from January 30-February 11, 2003.

Montreal also has a streak on the line, but one it would like to end.

The Canadiens have gone winless in their last nine road games against the Avalanche.

Montreal snapped a four-game losing streak with a 4-1 triumph against Ottawa on Saturday as captain Saku Koivu, Radek Bonk and defensemen Francois Bouillon and Mathieu Dandenault scored first-period goals.
