ST. LOUIS (Ticker) - After posting a 3-11 record in January, the Chicago Blackhawks likely will have to play the rest of the season without their captain.

The Blackhawks will be without defenseman Adrian Aucoin when they begin a six-game road trip Thursday against the struggling St. Louis Blues.

Aucoin, who had missed 18 games earlier this season with groin injuries, dislocated his right shoulder Sunday against Calgary and is facing surgery. He has one goal and five assists in 33 contests.

Chicago lost for the third time in four games with its 5-3 defeat to the Flames. Radim Vrbata and Rene Bourque scored goals just nine seconds apart in the first period in the losing effort.

Ranked last in the league in points (32) and 28th in goals (132), St. Louis has split two games since recent trades that sent Doug Weight to Carolina on Monday and Mike Sillinger to Nashville on Sunday.

Keith Tkachuk scored his first goal in his return from a broken hand and Lee Stempniak added his fifth of the season for the Blues in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings.

Chicago, which is tied with Columbus for fewest goals (131), has won three of the five meetings against St. Louis. However, the Blues posted a 3-2 triumph in their most recent encounter December 28.
