UNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs hope to preserve their slim postseason hopes when they visit the New York Islanders on Thursday.

The 10th-place Maple Leafs trail Tampa Bay by five points for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with Toronto owning a game in hand.

Captain Mats Sundin accounted for all of the Maple Leafs' scoring in a 6-5 overtime triumph against Florida on Tuesday by collecting four goals and two assists, including Tomas Kaberle's game-winner with 11 seconds left in the extra session.

The Islanders already have been eliminated from playoff contention. However, that did not stop them from playing spoiler as they posted a 3-2 triumph Tuesday against the Atlantic Division-leading New York Rangers.

Miroslav Satan scored twice as the Islanders raced to a three-goal lead after two periods and Rick DiPietro stopped 22 of the 24 shots he faced in the third period to preserve the win.
