SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- The San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings had one day to make adjustments.

The Sharks attempt to gain their fourth straight win as they close out a home-and-home series against the Kings on Thursday.

Rookie Joe Pavelski scored two goals - once on the power play - and Steve Bernier tallied with the man advantage as San Jose posted a 3-1 victory Tuesday. Evgeni Nabokov had 36 saves for the Sharks, who killed all five of Los Angeles' power-play chances.

Defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky netted the lone goal and Dan Cloutier turned away 28 shots for the Kings, who have alternated wins and losses in their last four games.

In its last six contests, Los Angeles has given up 11 goals when being at least one man short. The Kings will likely face goaltender Vesa Toskala on Thursday since the Sharks have made a habit of alternating netminders.

The Sharks' last sweep of the Kings in a home-and-home set was January 27-28, 2003.
