SUNRISE, Florida (Ticker) -- The Florida Panthers try to end 2006 on a high note when they host the Montreal Canadiens on Friday.

The Panthers, 4-1-1 in their last six games, try to build off Wednesday's 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Rostislav Olesz led the Panthers with a goal and an assist while Jozef Stumpel and Mike Van Ryn had the other Florida goals.

Florida netminder Ed Belfour, who is 3-0-1 in his last four starts, made 23 saves.

The Canadiens come off a 4-1 victory over the Washington Capitals on Wednesday in the second of a four-game road trip. Defenseman Sheldon Souray led Montreal with a goal and an assist while Cristobal Huet made 30 saves.

The Panthers and Canadiens have split two meetings this season. Florida won, 5-1, at home on November 16 and Montreal won, 1-0, in a shootout at home on November 28.
