BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) -- Jason Spezza scored at 2:46 in overtime, lifting the Ottawa Senators over the Buffalo Sabres 3-2 Friday night in the exhibition opener for both teams.

Spezza took a feed from winger Marian Hossa and beat Sabres goalie Ryan Miller for the winner.

Ottawa winger Jody Hull opened the scoring 1:49 into the game off a behind-the-net feed from center Shaun Van Allen.

The Sabres tied it at 7:23 of the second period when defenseman Henrik Tallinder's slap shot beat Senators goalie Martin Prusek.

Hossa and Sabres center Paul Gaustad traded third-period goals, with Hossa ripping a shot over Miller's glove at 3:07 and Gaustad sliding the puck under Ottawa goalie Billy Thompson 52 seconds later.
