NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Jerred Smithson made his first
NHL goal count.
Smithson snapped a tie less than seven minutes into the second
period and Tomas Vokoun stopped the final 14 shots he faced as
the Nashville Predators posted a 2-1 triumph over the Minnesota
Entering with four assists in his previous 38 career games,
Smithson picked the perfect time to net his first tally. With
the contest tied at 1-1, the 26-year-old pounced on the rebound
of tough guy Jeremy Stevenson's shot and fired it past
goaltender Dwayne Roloson from low in the right faceoff circle
Also assisting on the goal was defenseman Greg Zanon, who was
making his NHL debut.
Adam Hall opened the scoring, converting a 5-on-3 opportunity
less than 7 1/2 minutes into the game to extend Nashville's
streak of consecutive games with a power-play goal to nine.
Defenseman Kurtis Foster evened the contest with just over three
minutes to go in the first with his fourth of the season and
third against the Predators.
Vokoun turned aside six shots in the second period and seven in
the third to preserve Nashville's eighth win in 10 games.
Roloson made 44 saves for the Wild, who have dropped six of
