NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Jerred Smithson made his first NHL goal count.

Smithson snapped a tie less than seven minutes into the second period and Tomas Vokoun stopped the final 14 shots he faced as the Nashville Predators posted a 2-1 triumph over the Minnesota Wild.

Entering with four assists in his previous 38 career games, Smithson picked the perfect time to net his first tally. With the contest tied at 1-1, the 26-year-old pounced on the rebound of tough guy Jeremy Stevenson's shot and fired it past goaltender Dwayne Roloson from low in the right faceoff circle at 6:56.

Also assisting on the goal was defenseman Greg Zanon, who was making his NHL debut.

Adam Hall opened the scoring, converting a 5-on-3 opportunity less than 7 1/2 minutes into the game to extend Nashville's streak of consecutive games with a power-play goal to nine.

Defenseman Kurtis Foster evened the contest with just over three minutes to go in the first with his fourth of the season and third against the Predators.

Vokoun turned aside six shots in the second period and seven in the third to preserve Nashville's eighth win in 10 games.

Roloson made 44 saves for the Wild, who have dropped six of eight.
