The NHL has suspended Montreal Canadiens defenseman Douglas Murray three games for his illegal check to the head of Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Mike Kostka. The incident took place in the third period of Tuesday night's game.

Kostka suffered a concussion. Murray was assessed a match penalty on the play.

Murray has no history of supplemental discipline, a fact taken into account by the league.
