NHL suspends two indefinitely
The NHL has suspended Minnesota Wild forward Brad Staubitz and Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman James Wisniewski indefinitely after separate incidents in a Friday night preseason game between the teams.
Both players have been offered an in-person hearing with the league to determine the length of the ban.
Staubitz was given a 5-minute major and a game misconduct after checking Cody Bass from behind at 4:24 of the third period.
Wisniewski delivered an illegal check to the head of Minnesota forward Cal Clutterbuck at the start of the third period and was given a minor penalty.
NHL senior vice president of player safety Brendan Shanahan announced both suspensions Saturday.
The Wild won the game 4-3 in overtime.
