Maple Leafs' James Reimer on IR

Toronto Maple Leafs goalie James Reimer has been placed on injured reserve, but is eligible to return Sunday.

Reimer was placed on IR with what the team officially called "whiplash" after suffering a hit to the head from Montreal's Brian Gionta Saturday.

Reimer's agent, Ray Petkau, told ESPN The Magazine's Craig Custance that Reimer has not been diagnosed with a concussion.

"He did have a mild, moderate headache [Wednesday]," Petkau said. "The doctor said there is no way to know if it is related to the headshot he took or not. We don't want to take a chance. Anyone can get a headache on any given day. At the same time it could be related, although it seems unlikely. ...

"That's the only symptom that he's had. It's very unlikely that it's anything else. He's fine with the testing he's done."

Jonas Gustavsson started Thursday night against the New York Rangers. Reimer also missed Monday's game against Philadelphia.
