Sidney Crosby will sit out the Pittsburgh Penguins' next two games as a precaution after taking a hard hit in Monday's game against the Boston Bruins, the Penguins said on their website.

Crosby did not travel with the Penguins to Philadelphia, where they will play the Flyers on Thursday. He will also miss Saturday's game at the New York Islanders.

"Sidney took a hard hit during our game against Boston Monday night and wasn't feeling 100 percent," Penguins general manager Ray Shero said, according to the report. Crosby collided with teammate Chris Kunitz in the third period of the loss.

Crosby met with Dr. Micky Collins on Monday and took an ImPACT test, which did not indicate Crosby had any problems, Shero said, according to the website. "However, we all think it's best that he sits out the next two games as a precaution."

Crosby and Kunitz were skating near center ice when they collided. Both players were slow to get up and took their time making their way to the bench. Crosby later returned to the game, playing over 21 minutes while being held scoreless in a 3-1 defeat.

The 24-year-old Crosby downplayed the incident after the game but did not skate on Tuesday.

"I don't know what I hit my knee on, if it was his leg or, yeah, just kind of a bit of a stinger," he said. "Nothing major."

Crosby, who played in 41 games in 2010-11 due to post-concussion symptoms, has 12 points in eight games since returning to the ice.
