James Wisniewski returns to Jackets
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated defenseman James Wisniewski after he was sidelined for 17 games with a broken ankle.
Wisniewski, a touted offseason addition, was injured on Dec. 29 at Dallas.
The 27-year-old Canton, Mich., native has two goals and 15 assists with 25 penalty minutes in 29 games this season, ranking third among club defensemen in scoring. He has also logged a team-leading 24:48 average time on ice, which ranks 15th among all NHL players.
The Blue Jackets were at the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night.
Wisniewski signed on as a free agent last July after his rights were acquired in a trade. He has 29 goals and 136 assists with 327 penalty minutes in 358 career NHL games.
