Cam Ward out with lower body injury
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Goalie Cam Ward will miss Monday night's game against Washington with an unspecified lower body injury.
Coach Kirk Muller said following the team's pregame skate that backup Justin Peters will start. The Hurricanes called up Mike Murphy from their AHL affiliate in Charlotte to be his backup.
Muller says he hopes Ward will be healthy for Carolina's next game Thursday night against Anaheim.
Peters started Friday night and made 35 saves in Carolina's 3-2 win over San Jose. Ward returned the following night and played two periods before he was replaced by Peters in the loss at the New York Islanders.
