Report: Evgeni Malkin in Russia
With a possible NHL lockout looming for early Sunday morning, Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin and Ottawa's Sergei Gonchar are making contingency plans.
Malkin and Gonchar practiced with Magnitogorsk of Russia's KHL and the pair is expected to play a game with the team on Thursday, according to TSN.
The KHL prepared for an NHL lockout in its own way by releasing guidelines concerning NHL players looking to play in Russia, saying "that only top-level foreign players come to play in the Kontinental Hockey League," according to TSN.
Malkin scored 50 goals last season and had 109 total points, which led the league. Gonchar had 37 points for the Senators.
