NHL 13: Week 1 simulations

Welcome to Week 1 of the EA SPORTS NHL 13: 2012-2013 NHL season simulations. Simulations will be released on a weekly basis and will include top headlines, three stars of the week, boxscores for each game, as well as standings and statistics for the league. The rosters used in the simulation include all transactions made during the 2012 NHL free agency period.

Headlines

• The St. Louis Blues, New York Islanders and Montreal Canadiens start their respective seasons off with a 2-0-0 record.

• Ottawa Senators forwards Jason Spezza (1G, 4A) and Milan Michalek (3G, 2A) lead the NHL in scoring with 5 points each after two games.

• Veteran New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur starts the season with back-to-back shutouts.

• New York Islanders star forward John Tavares will be out of action until early December with a broken rib.

• Tyler Seguin's three-point night leads the Boston Bruins past the Philadelphia Flyers in the season opener.
