The Philadelphia Flyers didn't waste any time adding depth in goal.
With the NHL's collective bargaining agreement now official, allowing for trades and signings to commence, Philadelphia has acquired backup goalie Brian Boucher and defenseman Mark Alt from the Carolina Hurricanes in return for forward Luke Pither.
This will be the third stint in Philadelphia for Boucher, who finished last season 1-6-1 with a .881 save percentage and a 3.41 goals against average for the Hurricanes.
The 23-year-old Pither split time this season in the ECHL between the Trenton Titans and Wheeling Nailers. He has 11 goals and 14 assists in 35 games in this season.
In 24 games with Wheeling, Pither had 22 points. The trade opens up room for goalie Dan Ellis to assume the backup role in Carolina. Ellis played in the AHL with Charlotte during the lockout, going 8-7-2 with a .922 save percentage.
