The hits keep on coming for the Ottawa Senators, whose first-line winger Milan Michalek was in New York on Tuesday to have arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.

Veteran general manager Bryan Murray, who confirmed the news for ESPN.com, also said Tuesday that it is too early to tell how long Michalek would be out.

The Senators have somehow remained in the Eastern Conference playoff race without many of their top stars. Among the injured are Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson, top center Jason Spezza and goaltender Craig Anderson.

Michalek, a 35-goal scorer for Ottawa last season, had 10 points (2 goals, 8 assists) in 15 games this season.
