COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned prized center Boone Jenner to their American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield, Mass., in time for the playoffs.
Jenner's Ontario Hockey League club, the Oshawa Generals, was eliminated from the playoffs on Tuesday night.
The 19-year-old Jenner was Columbus' first pick, 37th overall, in the 2011 draft. The 6-foot-2, 204-pound center had 111 goals and 135 assists, 263 penalty minutes and a cumulative +22 plus/minus rating in 227 career OHL games.
He scored a goal in five appearances with Springfield at the end of the 2011-12 season. Jenner, a native of Dorchester, Ontario, competed on the past two IIHF World Junior Championships as a member of Team Canada.
