Debate: Where’s Paul Gaustad going?
As the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks proved last year in getting valuable mileage from trade deadline pickups, it’s not always the big moves or big names that have an impact in the playoffs.

Jeff Carter's Second Hat Trick Of The Season
From Elias: Jeff Carter recorded his second hat trick of the season with three goals in the Blue Jackets' 6-3 win over the Sharks. Carter, who was traded to Columbus by Philadelphia last summer, is only the third player in Blue Jackets history to register two hat tricks in one season. The others were Tyler Wright in 2002-03 and Rick Nash in 2008-09. Carter also joins Evgeni Malkin, Corey Perry and Steven Stamkos as the only NHL players with two hat tricks this season.

Wings Break Nhl Record For Consecutive Home Wins
From Elias: The Red Wings completed a sweep of their six-game homestand with a 3-2 victory over the Sharks by which Detroit set an NHL record for consecutive home wins (23), breaking the mark of 22 established by the Bruins from December 1929 to November 1930. Journeyman netminder Joey MacDonald was the Red Wings' goaltender for every game of their just-completed homestand, and he limited Detroit's opponents to a total of 10 goals while winning those six games. When the homestand began on February 8, MacDonald had a 23-44-13 record in 89 NHL games and his longest winning streak was three games for the Islanders in November 2008.
