Madison Square Garden might be the most famous and hallowed arena in the United States with almost every indoor sport conducting a major event here. The Garden is the second-oldest NHL arena behind Pittsburgh. The Rangers are known for their "True Blue" fans, who fill the upper levels. The Blueshirts endured one of the longest droughts in pro sports when they had to wait 54 years between Stanley Cup finals, but Game 7 of the 1994 finals remains the biggest hockey moment in the city's history (no offense, Islanders fans). The Rangers finally got their coveted Cup with a 3-2 victory over Vancouver on June 14, 1994. Besides Wayne Gretzky, whose No. 99 is retired in every NHL arena, the Rangers have retired jersey Nos. 1 (Eddie Giacomin), 2 (Brian Leetch), 3 (Harry Howell), 7 (Rod Gilbert), 9 (Adam Graves and Andy Bathgate), 11 (Mark Messier) and 35 (Mike Richter).
