Shelly Olds makes case for U.S. spot

CHENG QIAO, China -- Olympic hopeful Shelly Olds emerged from a group sprint to win the World Cup event in China on Sunday, bolstering her case for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team.

Olds went head-to-head with Australia's Melissa Hoskins and Monia Baccaille of Italy over the final 300 meters of the course from Pudong to Chongming Island. The American pulled ahead at the finish to win the fifth round of the World Cup series in 3 hours, 11 minutes, 51 seconds.
