U.S. falls shy of bronze vs. Germany

LONDON -- Germany won the bronze medal in the men's team foil, beating the United States 45-27 in the final fencing event at the Olympics.

The third-seeded Germans were ahead throughout and posted a comfortable win at ExCel Centre on Sunday.

It's Germany's second fencing medal at the London Games after Britta Heidemann's silver in the women's individual epee. Peter Joppich sealed the victory in the ninth bout against Alexander Massialas.
