Joaquin Rodriguez increases lead

PUERTO DE ANCARES, Spain -- Joaquin Rodriguez increased his lead in the Spanish Vuelta by outlasting Alberto Contador to win the 14th stage on Saturday.

SaxoBank rider Contador, a former winner, attacked with 3 miles to go on the final climb. But Rodriguez caught and passed his fellow Spaniard to win the 93-mile mountain stage that featured five category climbs.

Rodriguez finished in 4 hours, 10 minutes, 28 seconds, extending his advantage over Contador to 22 seconds.
