Tina Maze wins opener in Austria
SOELDEN, Austria -- Tina Maze of Slovenia lived up to her ambition to become Lindsey Vonn's main challenger for the women's overall World Cup title by convincingly winning the season-opening giant slalom on Saturday.
Maze was already runner-up to Vonn in the overall standings last year, but she failed to win a race and trailed the American by 578 points.
