IOC candidate wants new sports

LAUSANNE, Switzerland -- IOC presidential candidate Denis Oswald says the Olympics could add new sports by cutting some existing events and disciplines.

Oswald says a "more creative approach" is needed to establish the sports program in the wake of the IOC's handling of wrestling's Olympic status.

The Swiss lawyer is one of six candidates to succeed Jacques Rogge, who steps down in September. Oswald held a news conference Monday to talk about his campaign platform.
