Jeter to skip nationals with quadriceps strain
DES MOINES, Iowa -- Carmelita Jeter will skip the 100-meter race at the U.S. Championships to rest a sore right quadriceps, her coach said Thursday.
Jeter already has an automatic spot at the worlds courtesy of her win in 2011. Her coach, John Smith, said they "didn't want to take any chances" with the strained quadriceps. He's confident Jeter will be ready to defend her 100 title in Moscow in August.
