Olsen wins second straight title

CALGARY, Alberta -- Justin Olsen of San Antonio won his second consecutive U.S. men's bobsled push championship Thursday, further solidifying his status as a challenger for Olympic gold at the Vancouver Games this winter.

Olsen edged Curt Tomasevicz of Shelby, Neb., by three-hundredths of a second to win the event, which included pushes from the right side, left side and back of a sled. Olsen and Tomasevicz were both in driver Steven Holcomb's sled last March, when USA 1 became the first American foursome to win gold at the world championships in 50 years.

Chuck Berkeley of Clayton, Calif., was third; Chris Fogt of Alpine, Utah, was fourth; and Jamie Moriarty of Winnetka, Ill., placed fifth in the 16-man competition.

The women's push championships are Friday, also in Calgary.
