Russian men, German women win cross-country relays

LA CLUSAZ, France -- Russia won the men's relay and Germany
took the women's relay Sunday at a World Cup cross-country meet.

The Russian quartet covered the 4x10-kilometer mixed-style race
in 1 hour, 45 minutes, 58.4 seconds. Vassily Rotchev and Nikolay
Pankratov skied the two first classic-style legs, and Alexander
Legkov and Evgeny Dementiev skied the last two freestyle laps.

Norway finished second, 1:24.3 behind, with anchor Petter
Northug edging individual World Cup champion Tobias Angerer of
Germany by 0.2 seconds in a close finish.

Five-time Olympic biathlon champion Ole Einar Bjorndalen skied
the third leg for Norway.

Germany finished in 56:14.6 in the 4x5K women's relay and beat
second-place Sweden by 12.7 seconds. Stefanie Bohler, Viola Bauer,
Claudia Kunzel-Nystad and Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle competed for
Germany.

The Czech Republic was third, 14.7 seconds behind.

Norway leads both the men's and women's nations standings.
