RETHIMNO, Greece -- Mike Rodgers of the United States edged Jamaica's Mario Forsythe to win the 100 meters in 10.11 seconds at the Vardinoyiannia meet on Wednesday.
Gloria Asumnu beat fellow American Mikele Barber to win the women's 100 with a time of 11.28 seconds. Also, Justin Gaymon of the U.S. won the men's 400 hurdles in 49.01 seconds.
Robert Fazekas of Hungary had a season-best throw of 217 feet, 2 inches to win the discus at a meet that usually features leading stars but noticeably lacked the big names this year.
The 35-year-old Fazekas gained notoriety in the 2004 Athens Olympics when he won discus gold, only to be disqualified and stripped of his medal when he provided an insufficiently small urine sample at testing. He returned to the sport after serving a two-year ban.
Australia's Chris Noffke won the long jump with a distance of 26-3, and Romania's Marian Opreal (55-10 1/4) edged American Kenta Bell (55-5½) in the triple jump.
In other women's events, Cydonie Mothersille of the Cayman Islands won the 200 in 22.75 seconds, Ethiopia's Gedo Sule Utura (8:43.72) beat Kenyan rival Margaret Muriuki in the 3,000 and Germany's Kathrin Klaas won the hammer with a throw of 237-6.
