NEW YORK -- Kim Smith of New Zealand says she will compete in the New York City Marathon.
Smith was leading the Boston Marathon for 20 miles until a calf injury slowed her.
The New York Road Runners also said Wednesday that Smith will run in the New York Mini 10K on June 11.
Smith, who lives in Providence, R.I., said "after the disappointment of Boston, having another marathon in line helps get over it."
American 5,000-meter record-holder Molly Huddle will run the inaugural NYRR 5K on Nov. 5, a day before the NYC Marathon.
Both runners joined 2,000 schoolchildren for the NYRR fun run on National Running Day.
