Rachel Steer

While growing up in Anchorage, Alaska, Steer enjoyed sailing, skiing and hunting. It was while she was in high school in 1992 that she became involved in biathlon. She has been the top-ranked U.S. female biathlete for the past three years.

In an effort to prepare for the Olympics this year, Steer chose to train with a private coach, Wolfgang Pichler and moved to Park City, Utah, in 2000 to begin training at the Olympic venue.

Accomplishments: Before the 2001-2002 season began, Steer had won more than 12 National Championships.
