A three-time world champion on roller skates, she made the switch to ice prompted by the man who has become her financé, KC Boutiette, in time to compete in 1998. At Nagano, she placed fourth in the 3,000 meter.

Rodriguez is believed to be the first athlete of Hispanic descent to compete in the Winter Games.

A native of Miami, she began roller skating at the age of 4. She enjoys snowboarding, jet skiing, cycling, and collecting Hard Rock Café pins. Once she finishes her skating career, she would like to go to school to become either a veterinarian or physical therapist.
