The United States women's basketball team will open Olympic play in London on July 28, against an opponent yet to be determined. Tipoff is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. ET.
The Americans will play five preliminary-round games total.
Their second matchup will come against Angola at 5:15 p.m. on July 30. Their opponents for the next two games -- Aug. 1 and Aug. 3, each at 5:15 p.m. -- won't be finalized until the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament concludes July 1, in Ankara, Turkey.
The U.S. will conclude preliminary-round play against China at 11:45 a.m. on Aug. 5.
The top four teams in each preliminary-round group will advance to the Olympic quarterfinals Aug. 7. The semifinals and medal-round games will be contested Aug. 9 and Aug. 11, respectively.
USA Basketball also announced Wednesday that its women's and men's teams will play an exhibition doubleheader against Brazil on July 16 at the Verizon Center in Washington. Tickets go on sale on May 30.Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
