Volvo race sails to Europe
MIAMI -- With Tropical Storm Alberto expected to test the fleet, the Volvo Ocean Race headed from North America to Europe on Sunday.
Telefonica of Spain, skippered by London Olympic gold medal prospect Iker Martinez, led the fleet out of South Beach on Leg 7 for Lisbon, Portugal.
Alberto will test boats with 45 knots of wind and treacherous sea conditions. Several boats already have sustained major breakages during the course of the race.
