American Brittany Bowe breaks mark

KEARNS, Utah -- American Brittany Bowe broke the world record in the women's 1,000 meters Sunday in a World Cup speedskating race at the Utah Olympic Oval, finishing in 1:12.58.

Bowe broke the record of 1:12.68 set by Canada's Christine Nesbitt in Calgary, Alberta, on Jan. 28, 2012.

"I daydream about it," Bowe said. "I've dreamed in my sleep about it. When it becomes a reality and finally hits you, it's a dream come true."
