U.S. Team Trophy squad set
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Ashley Wagner and Gracie Gold will lead an eight-member United States squad at the World Team Trophy event April 11-14 in Tokyo.
Wagner and Gold secured a third spot for the U.S. at next year's Winter Olympics by finishing fifth and sixth, respectively, at last week's world championships.
Also on the team are Max Aaron and Jeremy Abbott in the men's competition, Marissa Castelli and Simon Shnapir in pairs, and Madison Chock and Evan Bates in ice dance.
The World Team Trophy features the six best figure skating teams of the 2012-13 season, and also will include Canada, China, France, Japan and Russia. Each skater receives points based on placements in the short program/dance and free skate/dance. The points are across the four disciplines, and the highest point total wins.
