Chellsie Memmel has biceps repaired
INDIANAPOLIS -- Beijing Olympian and 2005 world champion Chellsie Memmel is still focused on the 2012 Games in London after surgery to repair a tear in her right biceps.
Memmel expects to be out three months after last Friday's surgery. Her arm is in a sling, and she hopes to begin physical therapy next week.
She says she's "happy this procedure wasn't that involved."
Tests last week revealed the tear in Memmel's shoulder, which was first injured at last month's U.S. championships. It's the same shoulder she blew out in 2006, causing her to miss most of the next two years.
Rather than wait until after the Pan American Games, Memmel decided to have surgery right away to give her adequate recovery time.
