Marcel Hirscher OK after car crash
SALZBURG, Austria -- World Cup overall champion Marcel Hirscher has been briefly hospitalized with several bruises after crashing his car into a tree.
Hirscher was on his way to a public relations event Monday for the 2013 world championships in Schladming. The Austrian ski federation says he steered his car off the road to avoid a collision after a vehicle coming from the opposite direction crossed his lane.
"I am glad I reacted this way and didn't risk a frontal crash," Hirscher said. "It all hurts a bit but nothing too serious happened apart from some bruises and a headache."
Hirscher expects to resume training soon.
