SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah will host five major winter action sports events, including the official announcement of the first U.S. freeskiing Olympic team, leading up to the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
Utah Gov. Gary Herbert made the announcement Friday along with Bill Marolt, president and CEO of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, the Olympic governing body for skiing and snowboarding.
Utah's Canyons Resort, Deer Valley Resort and Park City Mountain Resort will host events in freestyle skiing, freeskiing and snowboarding during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons.
The series will culminate with the announcement of the Olympic freeskiing team in January 2014.
