BEAVER CREEK, Colo. -- The Austrian ski federation says Max Franz suffered a concussion, broken nose and cuts on his face from a crash in the super-G race Saturday.
Franz was racing down the tricky Birds of Prey course when he hit a gate and tumbled to the snow, where he bumped his head. He was carried down the mountain on a sled and taken to a hospital for observation.
The 23-year-old ranks 10th in the overall World Cup standings. He finished second in the downhill last week at Lake Louise, Alberta. It was the best finish of his career.
There is no timetable for his return to the slopes.
