Simon Cho retains attorney
American speedskater Simon Cho has retained an attorney to represent him in a scandal involving embattled coach Jae Su Chun, who is accused of ordering Cho to tamper with a Canadian rival's skate at last year's world speedskating championships.
Attorney John Wunderli says Cho has cooperated and been forthright with an independent law firm's investigation into Chun, also accused by more than a dozen national team members of physical, psychological and verbal abuse.
Cho was scheduled to discuss the allegations after Sunday's completion of the U.S. Single Distance Short Track Speedskating Championships at the Utah Olympic Oval, but Wunderli says his client won't talk publicly until after the investigative report is complete.
Wunderli says Cho also will testify truthfully if called at an Oct. 8 arbitration hearing seeking Chun's permanent dismissal as coach.
